We recently successfully completed the first phase of the network refresh, and will soon be embarking on the next phase, which will focus on the design of the network. This is a critical phase, as it will affect how the network will function, how users will interact with the network, how the network will be managed and secured, as well as a myriad of other factors.

Information Services has begun a multiyear project to upgrade Banner to the latest version, which is Banner 9. We are currently using Banner 8 and it is approaching the end of its life cycle. Ellucian, the company who provides Banner software, has notified all their customers that they are phasing out support for Banner 8 effective December 31st, 2018. System enhancements, patches, fixes, and regulatory updates will not be available for Banner 8 after that date.

Information Services offers classes in Banner Navigation and Argos End User Training on a regular basis. To see class information and class dates, as well as register electronically for any classes that are offered by Information Services, use the District-Wide Staff Development Registration Calendar. Staff may access the registration calendar via myGateway on the Employee tab.

Unfortunately, that is a misconception; cyber attackers have learned that one of the easiest ways to steal your information or hack your computer is by simply talking to and misleading you.

On August 17th, the Network Assessment Committee team put a vote to the vendor selection for Phase 1 of the network refresh project. By a majority vote, the vendor WTC Consulting was selected for the first phase of four in total, for this important District wide improvement project.

NOCCCD has acquired a District-wide survey tool called Qualtrics. This tool can be used by all students and staff in the District for conducting surveys. The tool is available through myGateway.

Information Services wants to make you aware of a type of malware that infects via phishing and has gained popularity this year. Originally introduced in late 2013 this type of malware is called ransomware and it is a dangerous piece of code that can lock you out of your critical files, photos, videos, and other important data on your work and home computers. Our goal with this CatTales is to help educate and prevent a loss of your data.
